Aerial Intensive Weekend - Introduction to Doubles
This summer join us for a fun weekend learning new aerial skills, challenging your flexibility and strength
Dates: 10:30-16:45 Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August 2017
Level: Suitable for those with some aerial experience and a desire to work with others
Venue: Arena Aerial Unit K5 Arena Design Centre, 71 Ashfield Road, London N4 1FF

DESCRIPTION
This workshop will introduce the basics of duo aerial, making shapes and movements on the apparatus with a partner. You will explore different mounts and safe transitions, taking the roles of both a 'base' and a 'flyer'
Working in pairs requires a good amount of strength and flexibility, so we will focus on your physical development and partner stretching too
Bring clothing options that allow you to keep your arms and ankles covered, but also expose some skin when necessary
All classes are lead by qualified, experienced, professional teachers. Expect to be challenged and have lots of fun

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Gaby Fleming practices and teaches aerial circus skills in London
She trains primarily with Amanda Miles and at My Aerial Home school of circus and aerial dance, and Rita van Opzeeland at the National Centre for Circus Arts. Her teacher training was the Nimble Arts Foundation course, with further static trapeze and aerial hoop specialisms

On the Day
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to sign-in and to start warming up before class. Classes start promptly and include a warm-up, no latecomers are allowed to participate but may observe
Etiquette
Studio K5 is in a residential block so please be mindful to stay within the studio and toilet area. This is a non-drinking and non-smoking place. Keep your stuff tidy and together with you. After the class leave promptly so the next group can come in. There is a full etiquette guide on the web page studio etiquette
Health
Ensure you tell the teacher if you have any health conditions, injuries old or new so we stay safe. Personal hygiene is important, you may be asked by the teacher to give your hands, feet or armpits an extra wash before touching equipment
Stay safe
Aerial circus is very FUN and also dangerous (partly why it is fun). Listen and follow instructions from the teacher - be responsive and take responsibility for your own and everyone else’s safety
The teacher uses hands-on spotting technique to assist you execute the skills being taught and ensure safety. If touching is not suitable for you for any reason, please advise the teacher before the start of class
At practice sessions please note we don't allow aerial skills sharing between beginners, leave the teaching to the professionals. During self-lead practice you are responsible for your own warm-up and cool-down. Full guidance on this is given during the first four weeks of the course
Clothing
Tight clothes that offer maximum flexibility are best. You should have coverage of legs and ankles, and wear socks. Bring a close-fitting long-sleeved top with you, even in hot weather. Aerial dance wears out clothes quickly so don’t spoil your favourite leggings. No jewellery and no hand cream or skin oils on to be used on the day
